The Youth Organizing Institute (in partnership with the Queer Youth Power Coalition) is hosting Queernival. Queernival is a semi-annual street festival for queer youth organizations and clubs. We have live music, prizes, and food trucks. In the past, we’ve also had a youth drag show and queer youth bands. GSAs, QSAs, and and other LGBTQIA school clubs have first priority for booths and those booths are free. Funds to host this event come primarily from larger organizations’ booth fees and local sponsors. Booths are sliding scale $1-100.

The goals for this event:
  • Connect LGBTQIA youth to resources & networks
  • Raising funds for LGBTQIA school clubs
  • Build student power
  • Celebrate queer southern liberation

We are looking for your help in the following area:

  • Planning and promoting this event
  • Volunteering onsite
  • Sponsors
If you are interested in helping onsite, we primarily need help with sound equipment and support, MCs, photography, tickets, first aid, and mental health support.

If you are not at a capacity to help but are interested in a booth, please let us know and we will send you the registration information once it’s set.
